Played another game of M&T today to go through a test scenario for a next weeks Targe show in Kirriemuir.
The game started off with a an ambush on a Unit of Regulars and supply train. As expected with the ambush being on both sides of the Regulars it ended up a blood bath and all but wiped out a 22 man unit in one turn. The only volley fire the Regulars fired never even hit an angry beaver but it did piss off some trees.
The near by settlement upon hearing the musket fire had to raise the alarm at the near by church (please note the church and the blockhouse are not on the table but will be at the show) so that the off table Elite Rangers could come and save the day.
Once the Milice and Indians had dealt with the Regulars they turned their attention to the settlement. The Light Infantry and the Black Watch Highlanders did well to the keep them at bay and the civilians finally made it to the Church to ring the bell to bring on the Rangers.
The Lights and Highlanders started taking a lot of Casualties but even with the mere presence of the Rangers gave them a boost and started to improve on the shooting even before the Rangers got into range.
By the time the Rangers got into range they started to push the Indians back. First getting a unit of Indians out of one of the cabins that they had taken without much effort. They then started to take many casualties on the new into the Battle Companies Franches de la Marine.
The French had a bit of luck with an event card giving them a reinforcement unit but even with this it was going to be a hard task. Despite still pressing and reducing the Lights and Highlanders to very small numbers the French were out of luck due to the morale of the Indians depleted. This allowed much of the remaining fire to be placed on the French and routing them at the end.
Overall a good game and im looking forward to Targe. Quite proud given that all the figures on the table were own.

M&T Game Point Levis Skirmish
The idea of this game was that a group of Canadian and Indians have attacked the British camp at Point Levis during the siege of Quebec. The Rangers and Light Infantry have been sent in to flush them out.
The battle started so well for the British taking some big casualties and then it all went wrong with most of the Rangers being wiped out very quickly and not doing enough damage to the Indians and Canadians in the woods. The trees did them well and meant my boys got shot to ribbons.
In the end the Indians and Canadians took so many casualties that the British had to fall back to the camp with many wounded and dead left behind to feel the of the Natives on their scalps.

Village Defence M&T Game
Played another game of M&T today and got my work in progress Blockhouse. The French conducted a raid on a Colonial Village. The village was defended by 3 Provincial Units an a Rangers Unit. They had to hold out against the French and Indian force until the Ranger and Indian relief units came back from their patrol.
The right side of the village took the brunt of the action and the Provincials found it hard to hold out despite putting up some good fights in hand to hand combat. In the end they were up against too much and had to fall back into a final stand in one of the cabins. The cabin ended up getting set on fire and all Provincials including the officers died.
The reserve units took most of the casualties off the French Units in the woods and took at gamble by crossing the open to attack a cabin held by some Indians. Unfortunate for them they were caught in the open the fire from the Canadian Milice Units wiped them out and effectively meant it was impossible for the British to defend the village.
The British fell back to the Blockhouse while French and Indians sacked all the buildings and destroyed all that they could. The French and Indians left the village with their scalps and loot and the British with left licking their wounds.

M&T Game at the club
Played another game of Muskets and Tomahawks yesterday and loved it once more.
The two forces were 460 points each and we went for a simple engagement as we are still getting used to the rules. The table had the village in the centre with the idea that the French were attacking it and the British looking to save it.
The Rangers with the help of the Forward Boys card were able to take the village pretty quickly and start to hold off the advancing French. All they had to do was hold out for the Provincials to come and support them but with some lucky dice they started to rule the table pretty quickly. Some deadly shooting meant they kept pushing the French and Indians back and were getting very little causalities in return.
The four Ranger Units ended up killing more than half of the French/Indians and only had 6 dead on their side. All this before the slow moving provincials made it to the village. When the Provincials finally got to the village the battle was over and they never even fired a shot in anger.
Overall another good game. I just need to look at more terrain option and also get loads more trees.
