VBCW Glasgow East Rifles

I had started painting these as a BUF Unit but as im never going to really game as the Fascists i never bothered finishing them. After picking up the newest Solway book on the Scottish Republic i took some inspiration from the Uniform plates. I wanted a Grey jacketed unit in Tartan Trews and what better than painting over the Black Uniforms of the BUF.

Glasgow East Rifles are a locally raised from the East End of Glasgow. They were formed by the Parishes in the Parkhead, Shettleston and Tollcross. They all signed the 1938 Covenant to protect their Faith and Scotland.  This Unit of the GERS are made up of Veterans from the Great War. Their Uniform is in the Grey of most of the Covenanters and they also wear the Government Tartan of the Black Watch.

Village Defence M&T Game

Played another game of M&T today and got my work in progress Blockhouse. The French conducted a raid on a Colonial Village. The village was defended by 3 Provincial Units an a Rangers Unit. They had to hold out against the French and Indian force until the Ranger and Indian relief units came back from their patrol.

The right side of the village took the brunt of the action and the Provincials found it hard to hold out despite putting up some good fights in hand to hand combat. In the end they were up against too much and had to fall back into a final stand in one of the cabins. The cabin ended up getting set on fire and all Provincials including the officers died.

The reserve units took most of the casualties off the French Units in the woods and took at gamble by crossing the open to attack a cabin held by some Indians. Unfortunate for them they were caught in the open the fire from the Canadian Milice Units wiped them out and effectively meant it was impossible for the British to defend the village.

The British fell back to the Blockhouse while French and Indians sacked all the buildings and destroyed all that they could. The French and Indians left the village with their scalps and loot and the British with  left licking their wounds.
