Ears and noses will be the trophies of the day!!!
Anyone who knows me will know that this movies is easily in my top 10 favourites of all time.
These were painted a few months ago but have been o my shelf and i forgot i hadn't took pics of them.

ECW Command Bases
Painted these up so i could get the flags on display. They will be used as the Colonel bases for Manchesters and Montagus Regiments at Marston Moor. Now i just need to get the rest painted haha.

I have always felt that the SCW is a really interesting war in modern times and also a very complicated one to follow. I have a read some stuff on it the past couple of years and it's one that ive always wanted to read more on.
Playing it in games is also something that ive wanted to do for some time as well so i have made the leap. I have picked the Falangists as they Blue shirts stand out and it seems as though no one ever wants to go the Nationalists. There is only so many people who can go the POUM or International Brigades.
They were an interesting bunch and seem to have been either a hit or miss on the field. I will use Chain of Command or Bolt Action for these. If i use CoC im very limited in the vehicle support i can use if using the Flange list. I have thought about just using the Regulares list with the agreement of my opponent and say these are one of the better trained platoons and i can use my Captured T-26 etc.
The figures are Empress and the flag is my own Flags of War one. I have loads more Falange figures to get painted from the Burns Miniatures range (previously Force of Arms). I will also get a few more stuff from Empress to kit them out and once complete i should have a tasty Falange Platoon with supports to chase the Reds from Spain.

Black and Tans, Red Devils and Romans
Not posted in a while but i have been painting. This stuff has been painted for a while and sitting on my shelf.
First up is some Black and Tans or Royal Irish Constabulary Auxiliaries. I have a keen interest in the Irish Wars and the Troubles which seem to go hand in hand of growing up in Glasgow. I have wanted to painted these great figures for a while now and glad i finally got them done. I do plan to some games with them doing some raids and ambushes. I will pad out the numbers with some of the British WW1 Regulars that i have previously painted up for my VBCW games. I also have loads of IRA that i will paint up as well that can be used as Militia types for VBCW and SCW game so it's a win win situation.
Figures are all Musketeer Miniatures.
Lastly is some Aventine Roman Auxiliaries. David Imrie was doing his using greeting about me not doing any armies for pre Pike and Shot. He finally convinced me to do some Ancients of my choice and after seeing the Aventine miniatures how could i so no. These figures are gorgeous and i have a whole army of them to paint....eeek. This is he first unit of Auxiliaries and a Unit of Legionaries are on the table at the moment and are about 70% done as well. They are second Century Romans and it's probably the only period i have ever read on the Romans and fits in with my recent trip to Hadrians Wall. I feel the Armour and equipment is of most interest to my self and have enjoyed doing these guys. We plan to use War and Conquest rules hence the single basing. David is going to do some Germans to fight but he already has his Caledonians which these guys will fit in perfectly with.

Next up is some British Red Devils. Another great interest due a watching a movie called Bridge Too Far when i was a kid in a cottage in Longueval when i was over at the Somme with my Father. These will be used for either Bolt Action or Chain of Command. This is just the first lot but they are probably not kitted out correctly for a squad. The next ones im painting are a squad plus command so will need watch what im paint to make sure im spreading the equipment out evenly for the squads. I wanted these guys to be battling it out in the bricks of Arnhem and i enjoyed doing something different on these bases.

Albanich 2014 Bloody Borders
I have not posted on this in a while but i haven't been doing ignoring the hobby. I have been painting quite alot as well making flags for the website so busy busy but i haven't got pics for some of the stuff yet.
I was at the Albanich show last weekend. It's quite a small show but i was a decent venue and was good to catch up with friends. I put a Border Reiver game for the club. We used a free set of rules from Wargames Illustrated for the Border Reivers. They were rather simple and lacked some excitement but i think i will be trying out the Donnybrook rules after speak with a few friends who want to try them as well. Barry did a good sell on them as well.
We played a couple of games of just basic raids with some killing in revenge for the stealing of cattle.
I faired very well as i was on horse and wiped out the English Family.
It was good to get my new Blockhouse that i converted using the Reiver range from Warbases. I also put my new Hudson and Allen Medevial Farm house on the table which can be used for many periods.
All the figures are the fantastic Jim Bowen figures from Cran Tara and i will be buying more of them in the future for sure.
Now im off to paint and will try and get some pictures tomorrow of the stuff i have painted the last couple of weeks.

Hail Caeser First Game
Recently i have started a 2nd Century Roman project with a friend. We will be focusing on using the War and Conquest Rules as we have a few gamers who want to start playing them.
As im not really a big table gamer i thought i would see what Anceint rules the guys in my club play with and it seems that Hail Caeser is what they focus on. As i want to start ancients i thought i would play my first game of HC in the club and i quite enjoyed it. My idea is to focus on HC within the club and W&C with the others guys.
I enjoyed HC but it seems to focus on you having alot of figures on the table. The game i played was considered a small game for HC but it still had loads of minis on the table.
Our game was Romans v Dacians with myself playing as the Romans. My first idea was to get my two divisions moving and form Testudo to to take little causalities from the Dacian skirmishers. Now this started off really well with my left division moving fine and carrying out the orders i wanted and laughing at the Dacians as their arrows pinged off my human tortoise. Now to get my second divison to do the same and this would be the perfect start for me but nooooooo they roll and double 6 and they have to move back and are almost all off the table. I lost one Unit of Auxiliaries and would have to roll to get them back on the table.
Now to move my Testudo forward, reform and unlesh hell. This all worked apart from me not being able to get the first hit into the Elite Dacian Unit. They were the first to batter into my Romans and this particular battle would go on for sometime as my Roman Veterans would hold up against no less than 4 charges from the Dacians. It didn't matter how many causalities the Falx caused my boys they would continue to take the battering and continue to move back but not retire from the field.
As this battle was getting personal my others units started to gradually pick off the units surrounding it that were giving support. The Dacians at this part of the field would end up all running from the field and leaving the Elite unit all alone and time for the Romans to get their pay back. The Elite was now surrounded and for the first time my Veterans would take the battle to the Dacians and win a round forcing the Elite Dacians to move back but the only problem for them was that they had to move back with another unit of Legionaries on their arse forcing them to flee from the field.
On the right of the battle my division that almost retired in their first orders was now getting forward and into the battle and they started a little better than Veterans . They had support on the wings from archers and various skirmishers. A double six from one of the Dacian units caused them to move disrupted into the middle of the battle field with no supports and would make them easy picking.
On the wings Auxiliary cavalry put up a good fight against bigger numbers causing a Unit of mounted archers to flee in the first charge and then making light work of a unit of Dacian Cav.
On the Right wing my Elite unit of Cavalry took a beating off some heavy Dacian Cataphracts but they took it with retiring and they were saved when the Dacians would all retire from the field due to too many casualties and a win for the Romans.
Overall i lost two Units from the field and took heavy causalities in my Units but due to some good dice on the moral they would stand their ground and in the end forcing the Dacians to flee.
First HC game and first win and a good enjoyable game. All figures provided by Balkan Dave.
I have almost finished my first Unit of 16 Aventine Auxiliaries which i hope to make bigger now after playing a game.
